The ‘Oostelijke Vechtplassen’ area agreement comes into effect

The Loosdrecht lakes suffer from poor water visibility and insufficient depth. This is one of the reasons why the opportunities for developing the natural environment and the recreation sector are being insufficiently exploited. In the ‘Oostelijke Vechtplassen’ (Eastern Vecht Lakes) area agreement, 21 public and semi-public parties have signed agreements regarding investment in coherent area development, maintenance and sustainable exploitation. On behalf of the Province of North Holland, the Amstel Gooi and Vecht Water Board, VINU is at the forefront of preparations for the ‘Dredging’ part of the plan, including the preservation and restoration of the characteristic layered structure and the development of new islands for nature and recreation.
